Recently, I realized something on my vision board had come true. It was this quote below:
I had been thinking about how quickly my recent situation in life had changed, and I was wondering why, and how it had changed so rapidly. I began to realize many of my issues had started to solve themselves because of my thought patterns, and the conscious actions I was taking daily to program my mind toward successful thinking.
This technique is sort of like brain-washing but with a positive spin. You convince yourself of your own abilities, and re-program your mind away from self-doubt, fear, and worry.
Below I am sharing my tips for programming your mind for success.
Find a good podcast or inspirational mentor
In order to be successful, you have to think like a successful person. Successful people view the world and themselves in a different way. Because of this, we need to fill our minds with the thoughts and ideas of those who are living their lives in ways we would like to. Find people and ideas that inspire and encourage you, and listen to them daily. Some of my favorites are Mimi Ikonn, Jen Sincero, Gabrielle Bernstein, Oprah, and Tony Robbins.
Catch self doubt and recite the opposite out loud
This is a technique that I use, and it truly works to help stop negative thinking in its tracks. Each time a negative thought pops into your head, recite the opposite thought out loud. For example, “I’m going to be broke forever”, should be turned into something like “I am abundantly wealthy”. Saying the opposite out loud further emphasizes what you wish to believe, and makes it more real.
Take baby steps and celebrate small victories
Because taking steps toward success can be very scary, you have to celebrate each small step you take. Whether you want to start a business, lose weight, or move to a new city, just take the first step. Even if it’s just researching something online, it’s a step. Once you do take those first steps, celebrate it. No matter how small, it is a step in the right direction, and that small change will spur other changes.
Take care of yourself
Treating yourself well is a form of self love, and self love directly influences what you believe about yourself. Take one day per week to put away your phone, and do something you enjoy. Read, write, take a bath, go for a walk, or play music. Do something that makes you truly happy. Treating yourself well will translate into a greater sense of self-worth, and an increased understanding of all that you are truly capable of.
Push yourself out of your comfort zone
Usually whatever you’re most afraid to do is actually exactly what you should be doing. Push yourself to achieve your wildest dreams. You’ll be amazed at where you end up, and each victory will set a new standard for what you can achieve. Remember that it’s all relative. What seems big or impossible now, may not seem that way once it actually happens.
Stay away from negative people, things, news, etc
Keep yourself away from anything that doesn’t serve you. Of course, you don’t want to be naive but each person’s experience in life is unique, and you can’t always base your experience off of other people. Don’t give time or energy to those who squash your dreams, no matter how good their intentions are. Also, don’t read, listen to, or share articles or videos which preach the opposite of what you’re trying to think about. For example, don’t read articles that talk about how doomed the economy is, or how doomed your generation is. Don’t buy into these ideas. People will still get rich in a bad economy just like how people will go broke in a good one.
Realize and remember your power
We as humans have a unique gift and that is the ability to be consciously aware that we are alive. Use this to your advantage. Realize that we get this one shot (that we know of) and make your life exactly what you wish it to be. Your life can change so quickly, and we as humans have an amazing ability to realize that, and use it to conquer our fears, and shoot for our dreams. Act like a kid again, and use that amazing imagination of yours.
I hope this is enough Monday motivation to push you through this week. No matter what you’re struggling with, remember that everything is temporary, and your life can change in an instant.
