Embracing the Journey

Sometimes I get so caught up thinking about my dreams and aspirations I have to remind myself to keep my feet on the ground. Anybody feel the same? I wish I was one of those people who was content with their life exactly how it already is but I'm always thinking about the next step I want to get to in my life.

I was telling my boyfriend about this the other day and he sent me this great video by Refinery 29. It really inspired me and got me thinking. Sometimes we have to just appreciate where we're are and embrace the journey and I wanted to share some of the ways I'm doing that with all of you:

Say what you're grateful for

Lately I've been trying to think about what I'm grateful for right before bed and on my drive to work. Even just having a bed and a job are two things right there to be thankful for! Even my broken down 2005 Hyundai Accent hatchback (or as I like to call it, the tin can) is a blessing! Try actually saying out loud what you're thankful for, for added oomph. They say gratefulness is one of the keys to success so let's get grateful!

Have a vision but do the work:

It's incredibly important to have a vision. I love day dreaming about all of my goals and things I want for my future but sometimes you have to put the brakes on and just do the work. Do what you have to do to learn (and survive). There really is something you can learn from each and every job you get.

Treat struggles as a lesson:

Every setback is an opportunity to learn something about yourself or about life. Success is not about how many times you fall it's about how many times you get back up.

Realize every day is not guaranteed

Try to enjoy EVERY SINGLE day not just weekends or summertime. Every day is a chance to make things happen, to have fun, to learn and to grow.

Be present

I struggle with this one but it's so important. For me one of my main priorities right now is spending less time on social media. I'm on it non-stop and I always have to remind myself to slow down, put down my phone and look around.

I hope this post has helped some of you! Comment below and let me know how you're embracing your struggles or your journey right now. I would love to hear it 🙂
