Friday favorites are back!

I so enjoy writing these posts and they always seem well received, so I’m bringing these babies back. Here are some of my favorite things this week. Be sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what things you’re loving this week.

Going to the gym

I am not a gym girl so I am shocked to say this, but I have really been enjoying the gym. Like many people I faced my fears and strange gym anxiety, and joined at the end of December. My little sister Casey (who is a beast in the gym) has been working out with me and kicking my butt. I love the rush of endorphins, the detox I get from sweating, and of course getting sore afterwards, and knowing I worked hard at something. I created a set gym schedule of Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday which makes it easier to stick to. I’m already seeing small changes in my body, and I’m excited to see progress in the future.

The Law of Attraction

I read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne back in college but kind of forgot about the concept. “The Secret” is actually the law of attraction. Kind of a woo woo topic so I won’t get too into it, but basically what you focus on, you attract. If you put good out, that’s what you get back. Even if you don’t believe in the actual “law” there are a lot of great concepts you can implement into your life like gratitude, positive thinking, and visualization in order to make your dreams a reality.

The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles

Fun fact: I don’t read fiction anymore. All of the books I read are self-help type books, or books on how to be successful. This is my current read, or should I say “listen” since I listen to the audio book on my way into work. This book also relates to the law of attraction in that it talks a lot about visualization, and the importance of gratitude. A really important concept I took from the book is to not come from a place of competition when realizing your dreams. If you want to start a blog, you’re not taking from another bloggers success. There is enough success and money to go around without taking from others or feeling like you’re being taken from.

Salt Baths

This year I have been focusing a lot on detoxing my body. When I had blood work done, I was told my liver was slightly sluggish and was recommended to start focusing on detoxing. Working out is a great way to do this, as well as drinking more water and taking hot baths with Epsom salts. Epsom salts are very easy to find and help ease muscle aches, pull toxins out of the body, and help you to relax. The hot water and steam also helps to rid the body of toxins. Plus its freezing here so a nice warm bath really helps me to warm up.

Walnut Chicken Piccata 

This is a recipe I found on Pinterest and UGH it is so delicious. The chicken is pretty easy to make and the recipe came out exactly as it said it would. I served mine over zucchini noodles as shown in the picture. Healthy and delicious! Since I cook for myself I had enough portions to last me the week.

Jazz Vibes

I always prefer to work while I have music playing and this is my new favorite Spotify playlist for that. It’s jazz with a sort of cool, urban vibe and it provides just the right type of music I need to feel inspired and get things done. It makes me want to take my laptop to a little coffee shop.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!

This week flewwww by. My boss was out of town on vacation so I had a very laid back week at work and am ready to get this weekend started! Here are some of the things I’m loving on this particular Friday. Enjoy!

Working Out // I stopped for awhile and am finally getting back into it. I feel so good afterward both mentally and physically and it is so worth it. I am currently doing the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide and I’ve seen some of my friends have amazing results with it. She kicks my butt but I know that’s the best way to see results!

Flow Chart // At work I have a flow chart that tells me what specific tasks need to be done on that day of the week. I decided to take this concept and incorporate it into my own life because I am terrible at time management. It helps me to stay organized and I’m able to figure out what I should focus on for the day instead of running around like a chicken with it’s head off.

Friends // I was able to see all of my college friends last Sunday and was able to cross something off my Summer Bucket List when we all met up for a beachy brunch. We’re all so different but we somehow all get along and we always have each other’s backs. I also got to Facetime with the missing member of our group who is currently living in Spain. Moments like these make me feel complete and give me such a sense of peace. Friends are so important.

Travel Vlogs // Right now I don’t have vacation time and it’s killing me slowwwwwly. I am DYING to travel again but since I can’t I’ve been enjoying summer at home and living vicariously through other people. I’ve mentioned this before but Mimi Ikonn has the best travel vlogs on YouTube in my opinion so I’ve been watching and re-watching all of them.

Pac Sun // Pac Sun is having a HUGE sale right now and a lot of items are 70% off. I’ve been looking for a one piece for awhile and decided on this one. 27 bucks!? I’ll take it! Keeping my fingers crossed that it fits well once it comes! If you’re looking for summer clothes or bathing suits definitely take advantage of the sale.

Ben and Jerry’s Dairy Free Cherry Garcia // My mom picked this up for me and I didn’t think I would be a fan but YUMMM. It tastes like a chocolate covered cherry and is deliciously creamy. After work I love coming home, sitting outside in the shade and eating it straight from the container.

New Planner // I just picked up a new planner and a notebook from Target. I feel like having a cute planner gives me more motivation to actually use it and these two remind me of mermaids or something. I couldn’t find mine on Target’s website but they have so many to choose from.
